Adding a device to the Sensum platform creates a virtual instance of your device where you can manage data, track location and create alerts to respond to unexpected events.
Data from these devices can then be visualized, monitored and controlled from within the Sensum Platform. For example, a device can be a Sensum Temperature sensor transmitting its temperature via Sigfox or a Sensum Water Meter transmitting water usage consumption via LoRA.
Find your device’s driver
Every Sensum device has an associated driver that tells the platform how the incoming data is formatted.

If you haven’t already, create a Sensum account and log in.
Navigate to your project’s dashboard and select Sensum Market at the top right of your screen.
Search for your device's driver using the Driver Name field.
Select New Device from the Actions menu to the right of the driver.
Device fields
Depending on your device and driver you may see some or all of the following fields.
A Name is required of all devices and must unique to the platform. Alpha-numeric characters with spaces, - and _ are allowed. e.g. 12_Smith_st Smart-meter
A MODBUS Unit Identifier is also required of all devices. This is a number unique between the devices in your project. e.g. 63
MODBUS Master IP Address enter 0.0.0.0
Credential
A Location can be set for every device by dragging the pin on the map tool or entering an address
The Motion field sets if the device is static or in constant motion.
A DevEUI is required of some devices and is your device’s EUI. Find yours here.
ID Sigfox is required of some devices and is your device ID on the Sigfox network.
